TYPO3 is an open source small to midsize enterprise-class Content Management Framework written in PHP. It is released under the GNU General Public License. It is used as a back-end system for websites and can run on Apache or IIS on top of Linux, Microsoft Windows, OS/2 or Mac OS X.

Along with a set of ready-made interfaces, functions and modules TYPO3 has a large repository of extensions. More than 4,500 extensions are available, e.g. News, eCommerce or forums for discussion.
TYPO3 has a web frontend, which presents a TYPO3 based website to its users, along with a web based backend, used by authors and site administrators to manage content for the website. TYPO3 uses PHP and any relational database supported by the TYPO3 DBAL including MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and others.

The cron IT GmbH offers a module that allows filling of Typo3 documents via XML export from K4. The K4 articles are automatically imported into the open source Web Content Management System Typo3. Data can be re-imported without losing its consistency, should the editorial staff make subsequent changes in vjoon K4.
